How I missed my BIT admission.

 Hey! I wanted to write something but first decided to read the last post. That felt nice. 

Wrote the above line yesterday. I could not complete this post yesterday because of some issues. I have an important thing to write about. It's actually about my study. I had written in my previous posts that I had taken entrance exams and I had also mentioned my rank and score. I had scored 45 in CSIT's entrance and I was ranked 3004. In BIT, I had scored 69 and I was ranked 76. I had good score and a good rank in BIT but I made a huge blunder.

Since I knew about CSIT's admission process, I thought that the same was with BIT too since both the courses fall under IOST and are related to computer science but that was not the case. 

In CSIT, after the results of the entrance exams were out, we had to fill up a priority form in which we had to choose colleges in which we wanted admission. After that, an admission list would come directly from IOST in which they would give names of the students who could be admitted in different colleges. The list would be arranged according to the student's ranks. High rank meaning higher priority. After the list, the students could go directly for admission in the college. This was for CSIT.

In BIT, everything was same till the priority list. But after the priority list, IOST published a notice with list of names of students who could get admission in different colleges according to their ranks and the priority form which they filled up. The notice also included another important point which told that the colleges could accept application for admission from the students from a certain date. I failed to understand that. I thought that the college was going to publish a notice stating that they were now accepting application but the college never did that. 

Also, I'm adding this while I was proofreading, I had previously visited the college and asked about the admission process of this course. During that time, I had met a staff who told me about the admission process. He never mentioned about this admission application. In fact, he told me that until last year, the students were supposed to come to the college before admission (by which he probably meant that they had to submit an application) but that was changed this year and the admission list would come directly from IOST.  

If I had gone to the college and asked about the notice, they would have told me everything but I did not do that. I tried calling to the college and IOST but the phone was not picked up. I had number of the president of the Independent Student Union but I did not call him either. If only I had gone to the college or called the president, I would not have missed my admission. 

The last notice published by IOST had also mentioned a date in which the colleges were supposed to release the admission list. I kept checking for the admission list. When the list came, I saw that people below my rank were in the list but I was not. Then I called the president and then he explained to me what had happened.

It was Friday evening already and the college would be closed the next day. Then Sunday morning, I went to the college to ask if anything could be done now. I met with the staff there and found out that nothing could be done now. I also told them that previously one of the staffs had told me a different thing about the admission. They told me that since we were made to fill up the priority form, there was a talk about not having to submit the application but it was not implemented. They told me that if any of the 36 seats were empty even after the admission of all the other students, then I would get a seat. They also told me to get admission in a college outside of the valley and transfer in the second semester if anyone left the course. 

The second option given by them was not very feasible to me. I thought the first option would be better. I contacted one the staff with whom I met, after Dashain. He told me to wait until the next notice came. I did. After that notice, he told me that another notice would come if the seats were not filled. That another notice has not come yet. It was supposed to come like a week ago. I assume that the notice has not come because the seats have filled and by now, the classes have already started. I have not called him since then. I also don't have any hope of getting admission now. I just don't think that's possible anymore. 

With this, it's safe to say that this year, I won't be enrolling in any Bachelor programs. So, what will I do? Most probably learn some new things and most probably MERN stack. I started learning React like two days ago. I kinda regret not learning it earlier.
